Default Transmission Hiccuping

Hello all, I searched the threads and did not find anything that was exactly matching my problem.

i have a 97' A4 1.8t Non-Quattro Automatic 155k Miles.

Basically I feel a Hickup in power when i am acellerating and I believe it's the transmission. The enging does not lose power or sound different when it happens.
I would say that it occurs mostly in the lower power band, say 1.5k-2.8k RPM's, and when I am on the highway. It feels like the transmission can't keep up with the engine or something.

I just had some engine work done and was told that the transmission pan was leaking around the seal and I should drop the pan, change the fluid and re-seal it.

Do you guys think that low fluid could create a problem like this or do you think there may be more to the picture?

BTW, I am having the work done anyway @ about $300. Just wondering if I should exect this to solve the problem.

Thanks all!

Cant hurt to change the fluid/filter. If its never been done, it would be a great idea to do it. For parts, check out purems.com they have good prices on fluid/filter/gasket and free shipping over $50 i think right now.

Well I will for sure do the change but do you think low fluid would actually cause a problem like the one I described?

Yes low tranny fluid can cause all sorts of shifting/slipping/power transfer type problems, i would start there for sure.
