Trim??
[align=left]First and foremost hi, Just joined today and i'm new to this forum. I've been to many others so i know all about the search and what not.
Ok so to my question(s). Im looking to buy a a4 b5 in the next 3-4 months. I always like researching my cars before I decide to get one. So i wanted to know about the trim lvls. I've narrowed it down to a 1.8T Quattro 5 spd for sure. What i wnated to know is, is there a further trim. What im trying to say is I see some 1.8t that have a 4 spoke steering wheel while othrs have a 3 and other little interior features. Now is there a specific trim/package that it came in or is it based on the years of the car? Which brings me to my other question did all the B5's have the same engine? I come from nissan world and the engines on cars are different based on years.
Hope I can get some of my questions answered. I tried searching but nothing really opened up. Either way sorry if the questions have been answered and if they have point me in the right direction. Thanks alot guys hope to have a good stay.

RE: Trim??
the b5 a4 came in either 1.8t or 2.8 v6
the more desireable of the two is the 1.8t
you should probably look for the "sport package" the car is a bit lower has the three spoke steering wheel
the 1.8 also comes with a leatherette interior, where as the 2.8 has real leather
dont know if thise applies to you or not.. but i'll throw it out there
96-99.5 cars are all drive by cable where the throttle is controlled directly by the gas pedal
2000+ are all drive by wire where there is a sensor for the gas pedal and it then tells the ecu how much to open the throttle body
for that reason, and a stronger motor the pre 2000 cars are a little better for modding, and if you are going to mod the 1.8 is a must there are very limited aftermarket parts available for the 2.8, although the 2.8 is supposedly more reliable

you should be researching how to tell a good a4 from a bad one and what questions to ask, like I didnt.
check the valve cover gaskets for oil leaks
ask about timing belt (1500 $ service)
ask about controll arms
