im looking into buying a Audi a4 2003 1.8t Quattro with 70,000 miles. it just got the timing belt and water pump replaced. the car is selling for 9600$.

So when i was test driving it, it had a little trouble shifting into 5th gear. He said sometimes it gets stuck if you shift a little hard. i had to put it in neutral then push it to the left side then back to the right and into 5th it went. He said he took it to a shop and they said it has a little trouble because its an aftermarket "short shifter".

So is it just the shifter or would you guys think it needs a new transmission or clutch?
