Default Turbo questions

I was looking at my turbo a minute ago (k03) and noticed on the braided lines that come out of it, where they conncect-there is pinkish/greyish looks like some kind of sealant like crap dried up or something where the lines meet the turbo. I never really noticed this when i bought the car a short while ago cuz I didnt even know what part that was. I thought the turbo would be bigger than that and located under the airbox. I thought it might had been spilled coolant but that doesnt make sense. You can hear during the first couple minutes of driving after a cold start up that turbo sound like its spooling up bellow 5-10mph. Then it goes away every time. Doesnt really sound like a leak. Car has good power i think even in 90 degree heat.

Anyway, anyone ever replace a k03 with a k03? I know its a cheap replacement. I also know the k04 is so much better... How much for the whole k04 investment if i do it myself????

Think I should check for a leak with soapy water? Thanks.

You should be able to find a K04 for about $700 + $40 for the install kit. Then you just need software. I think GIAC is $600 if you don't already have there k03 software. Also, a catback exhaust is recommended for a k04, which you can get for just over $600.

Hmmm.. Thats close to $2,000 all together, I was thinking about getting a new k03 and a chip cuz that could only be around $1000.. Im not a serious moder, and dont have the $$ to be anyway. So do yall think the new k03 w/chip is a bad idea if im trying to spend/mod the least amount?
