The SAP (secondary air pump) is a worthless piece of crap! The only function of the SAP is to heat up the cat converters faster upon a cold start, thats all it does! If it were up to me, i would rip that piece of dead wieght out of there and toss it in the garbage IMO.
you can, but you wont pass emissions anymore. Somepeople dont have that option

looks like a bad primary o2 sensor and either bad sai pump or hole in the line. The line is plastic and gets brittle with age

Doesn't some aftermarket programming eliminate the SAP from the ECM profile? If it doesn't throw a code it will pass as far as i know.

No, you just remove it and then add a couple of resistors to prevent the cel from going off.

the first one, closer to the turbo. The pump is located under the intake. Start at the line coming off the intake air box and just follow it down to the pump. then follow the line out to the egr/combi valveattached to the engine.

Really? I thought i read somewhere that MIKA tuning eliminated the SAP pump from the ECM, even knowing MIKA is as good as a cow pie [:'(]

I think the word "MIKA" should be banned from this forum.

OOOOHHH that last pic is pretty nice! Except for the non protected air filter [:'(]
That still doesn't explain why someone couldn't just elminate those emmision programs from the ECM, but resistors i suppose is easier so what the hell.
