Default Uhhh Ohh!!!

Well I was driving along today and in some traffic. Stopped at a red light and waited. It turned green.. i started to go.. the car felt a hell of a lot slower so i checked the boost and it was at 0psi!!!! I didnt remember feeling a hose pop off, and i wasnt running her hard.. so i stopped at my destination which was just a mile up the road and looked..

Sure enough no hose was off, and no leak from the Turbo Outlet hose that I could see. So I started driving home and all of a sudden the turbo starts making this whining noise like an electric scooter on crack! I get her home and pop the hood.. nothing out of the ordinary from the looks of it.. but the turbo was super hot and a little bit of smoke was coming from it. The smoke was hard to see at first but from the right angle you could see it..

My guess is that the turbo decided to see life elsewhere..

BTW, its the GTRS

My question is this.. if im going to get another turbo to put on her, should i get another GTRS or should i just go with something different (bigger)

Did you take the turbo inlet hose off to check for play or spin the compressor shaft/wheel/fan/fins/whatever you call it?

Might want to take the oil line off the turbo and crank the engine to see if oil is circulating. \

If your turbo was shot youd have smoke coming out the back.

The wastegate might have gotten stuck keeping you from developing boost. But i doubt it.
The best thing to do is see if the compressor wheel turns by hand, if it doesn't $$$$$$$$.[:@]

yeah.. that was kinda one of my thoughts was that maybe the wastegate got stuck open.. but still internal wastegate is still going to be some money
