Default Vacuum Line Help

The vacuum line that attaches right at the front of the intake manifold pretty much tore off today... seems like its pretty taught, so some semi-aggressive driving musta yanked it pretty good... I have no idea where it goes, or how long it is... will replace it tomorrow. Engine is too hot for me to trace it to the other end right now... I have a stupid CEL agian though, bastard!

Anybody know where this line goes? How long it is? Hmm.

bump?

I tried to trace it... it seems to be about 12" long, and go back underneath the manifold runners... and into the manifold again... or something... I dunno. Will take some doing to get the new one on there... dont know how I'm gonna be able to get at it! ARgh.

The same line broke when I first got my car. They had to let it cool down first and then somehow snaked it under the manifold... I know which hose you are talking about, if I get a chance, and remember, I'll take a look and see if I can figure out a way.

that hose is the most common for failure

it goes to a small box on the under side of the intake called the N249 recirculating valve

as hose then goes from the side of there to the DV

Sweet ***.
I disconnected a couple plugs, MAF, and some other plug... and managed to get the vacuum hose out of there... getting it in, will not be fun. I cannot imagine how frustrating getting a clamp on the hose will be... its tucked so far under it... ugh. Will try from above, then from below. I hate CEL's...
Will disco the battery for 30 minutes to kill the light... then have to redo all my time correction on my head unit! ARGH.

i used a small zip tie rather than a hose clamp

IMO works better and is easier to work with in that limited space

I used a small zip tie on my 710N... for the little hose on the DV that is sorta recessed into the top. FUN! I'll prolly do the same tomorrow, for this hose... unless I can find some nifty clamps that are easy to get on.

How many vacuum lines are there on this car? I kinda wanna change them all, when I tear the front end off for the t-belt... saves me hassles down the road maybe? Or do you think it'd be a waste of time?

not a waste of time IMO

replace them now when you are in the mood to dig in under the hood

Well I fixed the one line that had severed... Am I crazy in thinking my car has more power now? Maybe it was just cause I was driving it lightly when I noticed the line... but it seriously feels better than ever. Maybe it's all in my head... I dont even know what vacuum lines do.

I replaced it with generic vacuum line from UAP... the factory line had like a mesh/cloth casing... this one is just rubber. Doesnt look as good... but whatever. I dress my engine anyways, so the rubber will shine!

I think I might replace them all, when I do my timing belt.
