VAG Details : 17704 - Error in Mapped Cooling System
Hi,
Here is my VAG report . I have listed next steps at the bottom to resolve the issue, please review and advise.
VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US Chassis Type: 8D - Audi A4 B5 Scan: 01,02,03,08,15,17,25,35,45,55,56 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 01: Engine Controller: 3B0 907 551 G Component: 2.8L V6/5V G 0003 Coding: 07251 Shop #: WSC 06335 2 Faults Found: 17704 - Error in Mapped Cooling System (usually temp Sensor or Thermostat) P1296 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17539 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs P1131 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent Readiness: 0000 0000
Next Steps:
1) Checked that I have a Green coolant temperature sensor
2) Bought the sensor from ecstuning
3) Looking for installation instructions for 2.8 v6/5V // please send me details if you guys have a good article to recommend for total no0bs.
Do you guys think I need to do something else. I saw a similar post where the guy resolved the issue by replacing the ECT sensor because the second fault was being generated by the first one. Is this the same case?

Start with the coolant temp sensor even if you already have the green one. That fault is throw when the ecm doens see the proper temp change between the coolant temp sensor and the radiator temp sensor in the lower coolant hose. If the coolant tmep sensor doesnt fix it you probably have a bad thermostat.
