Default Valve Problem?

hey. I have a 98 a4 1.8T 63,000miles

P1557 - 35-10 - Intermittent

I dont think that code has anything to do with the tapping. The tapping could be your cam chain. The code means you are underboosting, or that the actual boost is less than what the ecu is requesting. Check for boost leaks.

i have the same problem primo. It doesnt effect my performance though. From searching around Ive found that its valve timing , or it could be. The tapping gets louder or goes faster as the rpms go up. Does yours?
