The light output is no where near as good as my 6000k's are ...
But would you say that it's still better than Halogens (even Silverstars)? i saw 6000's were around 2800lumens and the 10000's were around 2200lumens, which is a considerable difference ... but no-where near the difference w/ the 4300's @ 3200lumens

(Silverstar H7's are 4000K & 1350 lm)

Honestly, if you were anywhere else in the country, I would say go for the 6000k's.....but you're not - you're in the rainiest part of the country.

4300k all the way for you, my man.
Thats what my guts' been tellin me... =/

I'd say go with the 6000k. Thats what I have and they're perfect. Just the right amount of blue, but still has good light output. Its also still somewhat easy to see in the rain.

I have 6000k in my car as well- honestly, I had 5000k in my last car and there isn't a whole lot of difference. I had 4300k in my Z, and those were REALLY bright - I can definitely see a difference between them and the 5/6000k kits. 4300k really is the most appropriate to get as it's the closest to natural sunlight, and it's also the brightest in lumens of all the kits as well. All the OEMs use 4300k as well. I just decided to go a little higher more for the hell of it than for any other reason. Besides, even a 10000k kit would probably be an improvement over the OEM halogens. But if you have the option, I'd exchange them for something at 4300-6000k - those will give you the best light output.

As for HIDs being bad in the rain, I've always found them to be superior to halogens, so as long as you get one of the lower color temp kits, you'll see improvement in the rain as well as the dry.

hmmm my 6000k's don't look like tooxtreme8813's...mine look more OEM than those. Although I don't really like the light output on mine, I feel like they could be better. They do not compare to my buds evo HID's.

Never had a problem with mine in the rain. Go 6000k or below. Pretty cool gift nonetheless.

Chances are your friend's Evo has 4300k, which has a higher output in lumens and more accurately simulates daylight - that's why they would seem to work better. Also, keep in mind that headlight technology is always getting better, so the developments in projection and angle design from your 2001 to his Evo may also make some contribution.

It will probably still be better - halogen output is around 750 lumens, so you're still looking at a big increase. But the extreme blueness of the 10000k kit may mean that the visible light output won't project as far, since as it gets more distant from the lens, it will weaken. Since blue is one of the worst colors for visibility, it'll probably drop off in effectiveness more quickly than the jaundicedwhite of halogens. The first, say, carlength or two in front of the car will likely be better lit with the HIDs in that temp range, but beyond that you may see a significant dropoff. With 4300k, the output is intense and goes a LONG way, especially with projector lenses.
