Warped Front Rotors - When to get fixed??
Likewise, there's no reason why I couldn't clean my own house, either.
I don't mean to sound lazy, but if I don't enjoy it, chances are I'm not going to do it. Case in point... I spend hours detailing my car. It would probably be easier to pay somebody else to do it. But I chose to do it because I enjoy it. If I enjoyed wrenching on my car, I'm sure I'd make the effort to learn more and do it. But, when you own your own biz and are slammed busy, time is money. And right now, it's easier just to pay the pros. Opportunity cost.

Ok, you're not a DIY guy. No prob.
Just be prepared to bend over a little bit when it comes time to make repairs.
I would find an import shop, that would let you supply the rotors and pads (get some ecstuning.com cross-drilled and mintex red pads). I wouldn't think they would charge you more than an hour labor ($80?) to install.
Its really not a hard job for anybody, but since its your brakes I would find a reputable import shop with veteran employees.

Hey, just a side note,
I had similar symptoms on my 300zx, high speed braking causes front end shaking.
It was not warped rotors. It was some worn bushings in the suspension. (tension rod bushings)
Warped rotors will be evident at low speeds as well. if they are warped, at low speed with the window down, listen for a rymthic scaping that comes and goes and varies with speed. If you hear something like this, it could be warped rotors. Anyone else know a good way to make sure its the rotors?
So, I am saying, you may want to check closer to be sure thats the problem. Worn control arms or tie-rod ends may cause the symptoms you are having. But, if you can afford to, get the upgraded rotors anyway, you wont be sorry. Then, if the problem is still there, you know what to look at next.

I had it at the Audi dealer last week for scheduled service and they said it was warped rotors. I wouldn't say it's a scraping sound, but my brakes definitely sound (and feel) pretty harsh. When I first noticed it, I could only feel it above 70 mph. It's getting worse and now I feel it above 50 mph.
I'm sure some of you on this forum could do it in an hour. But by the time I shop for and find what I need, get the repair manual, screw up a few times as I learn, etc., I'm sure it would be a 3-4 hour job. If I manage to find 3-4 free hours on the weekend, my *** is going to the pool!!! Besides, I don't think brakes are a good thing to dive in and learn how to DIY. They are probably the single-most important piece of safety equipment on the whole car - best left to somebody who knows what they are doing.
