Default what is behind the oil pan, front diff?

Looks like it's leaking on my '03 a4 1.8t. Is this a common problem, I only have 56k miles on it. The area to which I'm referring in directly above the rear skid plate that comes off when you take the front skid plate off. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess is as good as yours I've got the same leak like apperance to mine. I'll keep you posted on what it could be later need to get my car in for a timing belt change which should be in the next 3 weeks at that point I'll let you know. Just send me a PM so I remimber lol. Its nothing to serious might just be diff fluid so take a look on how much is in there.

What type of fluid is leaking? Motor oil? ATF/gear oil?

Don't think it's motor oil, probably gear oil. Can't be sure cause it's caked on with dirt and grime.
