Hey all... first time post. My A6 has started "spotting" the driveway under the motor; it's an '01 Quattro with about 55k on it. The fluid is reddish and smells like gear oil, so I'm assuming it's either the diff or an axle seal. Is there a known issue or TSB with this? Also, the car is now (of course) out of warranty; have any of you guys replaced diff seals yourselves, or do I need to take it to a shop? TIA-

 

I had a similar issue about 2 months ago on my '01. It was a leak coming from the rear output shaft from the transfer case. My dealer replaced the seal for about 150.00
