Because the 01+ cars are equipped with a K03 sport, which is almost the same thing as a K04 having only a 5 horse power difference according to Borg Warner. The only thing you would be gaining is holding boost a few hundred RPM's longer. In which case an eliminator turbo is a much better alternative.
