Default What to Expect Out of Stock A4

I have had my A4 for about 3 months and have drove it almost everyday. The handling is amazing and the interior is magnificent. I have the 1.8T, btw. The only thing I feel that is lacking is the accelaration. Its not slow, its reallyyyyy slow. Im talking about almost any car beating me. Are they supposed to be this slow stock? Or do you guys think there is a problem with my car?

Might be your O2 sensors going bad, have them checked. Also, should mention that the 1.8 is 150hp stock, not exactly a speed monster out-of-the-box.

Edit - are you running 91 octane or above? Just curious.

Is that the B5? I thought the B6 1.8 was 170 HP stock?

B6 is 170hp at crank stock. With around 25% drivetrain loss if you're quattro..... that's about bicycle hp when it's all said and done.

I saw his other posts and he said he has a '99 A4 which would be 150hp stock.

If I remember, according to car mags the 1.8T B6 runs a 16.1 in standard form and a 16.6 in an auto, that is pretty damn slow, to put it on perspective for me my old heavy, 95 Jeep grand Cherokee with a 4.0 straight six pulled a 16.9 with full exhaust and intake. Most people don’t buy Audi’s for speed, for me it is a mix of a quick car that drives sporty (I have a 3.0), handles great, but is also comfortable and classy as hell. If you want to mod it you have plenty of options though, start with a chip, I believe that right there can shave .5 or so off your quarter (don’t quote me on that though).

stock 1.8t is a slow car no question about it. chip is easy and quick option if you want wanna build a monster. There is no person who compain about chip being slow or anything. Chip is highly recommend by people in here.

Thanks for the information guys. I understand the benefits of the chip, I just wanted to check out to see if my A4 was performing like other stock ones. I have to check out Autozone tommarow and get my codes checked.
