Well gent's, if this is the best you can do for the poor fellow, then I feel already sorry for this forum.

Any inteligent questions/hints for sfwjesse from this round?

Maybe follow the line to see where it comes from. Try to find a OEM parts list on the net.

I have a 96 A4 2.8 and seem not to have this little thing.

Cheers,

I have said what it is 2 times now and what it is for. If you cant read or grasp that concept, i dont know how you can come here and judge the forum like that.

Do you know what a check valve is? Check valves look nothing like that and fluid doesnt pass through check valves anyways.
I was going to say something, but people always get pissy with me, they dont seem to get that way with you. Guess it needs to say mod under my name
it's because you have a flying pig avatar........ lol

if i am stupid and someone smarter than me points it out, i don't get my panties in a bunch, i say thank you

Cincy toldy jesse what it was twice. I think once was enough and he doesn't seem to be hinting or guessing, does he?
Don't feel sorry for this forum. Just leave and don't post if thats how you're feelin. Or stay but don't complain.

pretty funny. Still think its funny when someones first post is a complaint about not giving someone the answer to their question when it was done twice. Makes my head hurt sometimes.

+1...... if you or someone that has been around and knows what they are talking about(ie mod) tells me something, i am not going to second guess it

i might tell you i already tried that or know that, but not going to say "hey idiot, tell me what the real problem is, not some made up problem"
nor over react like faster did with onepoint

he is a mod for a reason....... might not always be right, but knows his stuff...... and a bad day at work..... cars are his work..... expensive ones at that, only way he had a bad day, is if he was behind the wheel of one that caught fire, like we had at work today......... dang boss being there, couldn't get video of it

Ok I know what it is now! LOL, had to sort through all the posts but thanks for the info. If thats just air regulation why is there goo all over it? Hmmmm fishy. Does it have a bleedoff on it for excess pressure that vents into the open air? I understand there are oil vapors in teh valve cover but how would the oil be getting out. Anyways it looks like its just two hose clamps holding it on...shouldnt be hard to replace. This valve couldnt be causing my severe loss of power and turbo lagg symptoms could it?
