I see this is a B5 problem ...

 

i think this might be the most common problem of all time in the A4s...look at the response from this thread in just a day....oh, and mine used to do the same thing...i stuffed it back in a few times, which worked for a week or two....i ended up just cutting it...it's just to help seal the air coming out of the vents and kill any vibration...mine wasnt that bad though, only a half inch or so

Just take out the vents and remove that thing.

 

yep mine does that too! man i have to poke that thing at least once a week, it's getting outta control!@ lol i bet someone makes an aftermarket poker just for that reason. hmm how about a leather wrapped handle, with interchangeable tips made from some exotic material like whale bone or ivory.

 

Mine does it too. Only a little bit and it seems to have stopped there. *knocks on wood*

Yup mine is doing it too not that bad though.
common problem I like how Shockington put it at least there consistent with there quirks
