where to buy Audi Navigation Plus
www.naviplus.com depends on what year you car is for the plug and play
i've been there before, I was talking about the OEM Audi Navigation Plus system that plugs and plays with the Audi Symphony II, it's the one that comes with the B7 navigation package. I want to put it in my B6
If your gunna spend the money on something like that you should consider carputer... Talk to Brrman about it, or check out his gallery to see pics of it. I dont think its plug and play though.
that carputer is hot but it has way too much going on and a lot more than i need, i just want navigation witht he stock look and I heard that the B7 navigation was plug and play from another audi owner on another forum that has plans on doing it...he's hard to talk to over e-mail due to many one line answers and I don;t have the patience for that so i was hoping someone on here could help me
Check out this site http://www.navplus.us/ Every answer you could want is in there. I'll save you a little time because I was thinking of doing the same thing in my B6 S4. The RNS-E system is what you are looking for. Here are the part numbers
8E0 035 192 C Audi A4 Europe, B6/B7
8E0 035 192 D Audi A4 Europe (B7, MY 2006, without SDS)
8E0 035 192 E Audi A4 North America (B7, MY 2005.5)
8E0 035 192 F Audi A4 North America (B7, MY 2006)(*)
8E0 035 192 H Audi A4 Europe (B7, MY 2006, with SDS)
8E0 035 192 J Audi A4 North America (B7, MY 2006, with SDS)
8H0 035 192 Audi A4 Cabrio Europe Basic, B6
8H0 035 192 A Audi A4 Cabrio Europe (B7, MY 2006, with SDS?) (*)
You will also need an adaptor for the wiring harness and you will have to have the system reprogramed for your specific car (tire size and some other stuff) using a VAG cable ans software. In the classifieds on the link listed above, there are guys selling these as kits that have the RNS-E, the harness adaptor, the tool to pull your old radio, and a GPS antenna. Depending on what version you get, prices are going to range from $1500 to $2500, and some of them will do the VAG programming for you. From Audi, it will cost you closer to $4500.
Be careful. Most of these systems are coming from Europe and some are stolen. The European version requires a firmware flash to work with the US map DVD's and there are some other differences. They are generally cheaper and according to the folks on the site, will work fine in the US after the flash.
If you get one that has already been programed for your car, and you have the harness installing it should take less than 30 minutes. The most difficult part is placing the antenna behind the insturment cluster. Some have removed it, and some have been able to reach it through hole after removing the Symphony II.
I highly recommend checking out the site. You should be able to find a system to buy there, and they have step by step instructions with pictures for installing them. In the end, I decided I didn't want to spend the money on this right now. Plus, I already have the Nav system in my car. Even though it displays in the Driver info center between the gauges, it was still too hard to justify spending $2000 for the cooler display.
Good luck.
