hey everyone. I got in an accident recently and insurance company is not willing to replace both headlights because only one was damaged. They also said they will get a used headlight to replace the broken one with a sepnding limit of approx 350. i know the new and old healights won't match because its from a 98 audi a4 1.8t and the lenses have faded and coloured uniquely. I know the shop doing the repairs and they will help me try getting a new set that has to be DOT approved for insurance to cover. I can only find these ones (pictures) but i dont know if they will fit the 98 model. its one piece design i know you have to trim the fenders which is fine. Can someone please tell me if these headlights would work if i trimmed the fenders. they are for 99-01 model. I know they are halo ring lights that suck but i just need something thats better than stock because my old ones are faded like crazy and the insurance company won't let me chip in.

So i got a 98 with two piece headlight right now, and i am wondering if this one piece from a 99-01 will fit on my car with fender trimming?

If they're intended for a facelift B5, then with the fender trimming they should fit your car.

 

Just for your own sake though, I spoke with Shokan (an Audi parts supply yard) recently and the OEM one piece headlights are $149 from them. You could get a set of them from those guys for $300 plus shipping and you'd probably still be under the $350 limit that your insurance company is specifying (which sounds like a bunch of sh*t to me, that they'd be able to set a limit to what they'll pay for a certain part to return your car to the condition it was in before the accident). Anyhow, if you want to talk to them, call them at 1-800-255-2834 and ask them for a quote on a set of headlights for a 2000 or 2001 A4. You'd be FAR better off going that route than with the eBay halos.

I'm with ICBC, bascially its a monopoly in British Columbia canada. The only other choice is canadian direct but my brother has been rotated so many times by them with unpaid claims i wouldn't bother with them. Thanks for everyones help, the stupid adjuster went out of his way and actually located a used headlight. I dont know why he is going out of his way to screw me over, hes making it seem as though he owns the insurance company and is trying to save as much money as he can. so I dont get any new lights just a recycled one. As of late seems like the audi has been giving me some really bad luck. After this accident, they arrested the drunk driver, the paramedics are taking away the lady involved in the accident and the cops started eyeing my car and noticed tinted front windows which are illegal here so he wrote me up for that and tinted tailights. Making me feel like the criminal. Wrote me some tickets and gave me an inspection notice( so not just the ticket but for removal of tint). So bascially rough week, got hit by a drunk driver and received a recycled headlight and tickets and inspection fees for 450 bucks. all the tickets revenue goes to ICBC the insurance company so im basically paying for my own repair. thanks for help though guys
