window goes up 3/4 of the way and stop-weird
I have a 99 A4 1.8T Quattro. The front, driver side window is acting up. The window goes down just fine.
The problem is when raising the window with the auto switch function. The window will go up about 3/4 of the way, then stop for a second and then will go down a little bit and then stop. I then press the switch again and the auto switch function will raise the window up again all the way.
I've searched the archives and most people seem to be having problems with the regulator but that doesn't seem to be the case here because that would mean the window wouldn't work at all, is that right?
In my case the window does go down and also up, just not all the way in one shot.
Has anyone experienced this problem or a similar? Any idea what could cause this?
Thank you in advance.

Now that you guys mention it, yes, it is acting similar to when you stick your hand in the window as the glass is going up. The safety feature makes it stop automatically. So that's the pinch sensor?
Do you guys know where exactly the sensor is? Is there anything I can do to reset it or something or does it have to be replaced?

I'm not real sure man, I've never had to deal with it. I just know what it does, does it sound like your window is hitting something when you roll it up, or does it get slower as it rolls up? You may just need to take your panel off and look inside there @ the regulator assembly and make sure nothing's getting in the way of your window rolling all the way up...

I don't hear anything unusual. It just slows down as it's going up until it stops completely and then goes down a little bit. But then when I press the switch, it goes up the rest of the way without any problems.
I guess I'll have to take off the panel to see what's going on. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but this problem started happening right after I took the car to have the front upper control arms replaced. Maybe the mechanic dropped something in there by accident.
