windshield cracked
I have had at least one new windsheild on each of my cars. I have not had to pay anything w/ glass coverage on insurance. When you have it replaced, have a body shop do it, they are going to make sure that they don't score or scrape the paint in the channel where the glass sits. If "Acme We Don't Care Glass Service" replaces it, they will grt the old one out as quick as they can, and put the new on in, EVEN IF IT IS RAINING! I have never had a leakage issue either. Of couse it helps to have a friend that owns a body shop too.
price and insurance coverage varies quite a bit from state to state.
if i were you i would find a local independent glass shop that you can take your car to and wait while they replace it. leaking can occur if not installed properly, so make sure they offer a warranty on labor.
do not use a mobile service or a big company like Safelite.
ask what kind of materials they use, or request PPG glass, OE molding and Sika urethane.
