without the radio the car is worthless....
ok i locked my radio which displays [safe] but only problem was when i went tot the dealer they couldnt pull out the radio becase they said 2of the 4 clips were broken on my radio. how can i take it out anyone has any idea?
did you check if your radio manual had the radio serial number in it? My radio manual had the safe code card removed, so i don't have the code, however, there are two stickers in the book which have the serial number of the radio on it.
You went to the dealer and they said they couldn't pull your radio out?? Sounds like some BS to me. Must have been getting ready to go home for the day. I think you got f'd.
4 keys are needed to remove your radio... There are 4 metalic clips that hold the radio in place. It's possible 2 of them could have broken. I would take it to another dealership if you have one in the same area just incase. I don't know of another way to get it out, short of taking off the entire dash, which might not help you at all... 1. Inserted the four radio removal tools.
2. Removed the knee bolster on the passenger side by removing the glove box lid and four bolts holding the boslter (I recommend getting/having a Bentley to see how this is done.)
3. I levered the radio out about 1/2" (using a small flat tip screwdriver) so I could remove the two small screws on each side of the radio faceplate and removed the faceplate. From there I could see and access the broken clip.
4. I used needlenose pliers to evetually twist and remove the broken clip. You have to be careful not to slip and break anything else.
Now, I had one clip (bottom right) that was broken. It would be good to know which of your clips are broken. Also, you may be able to do the same by removing the knee bolster on the driver's side, which would be much easier.
Bottom line, it's not BS that the clips are broken, it's just too much a PITA for the dealer to do. Took me a couple of hours, but I was "discovering" as I went. I would know exactly what to do this time and it would be much quicker. The thing is, if the dealer can't look it up from the VIN, you gotta do this to get the radio out.
yea the guy told me they dont go by the vins he said there is a code in the radio which they put it in a sum type of program which keeps the radio codes. where can i find those radio removal tools.
