Default Is it worth repairing??

Hi All

An Audi A4 1998 model is now spewing white smoke. The repair is likely to cost more than the book value of the car. (Will get quotes but my research indicates this could be fairly serious)

Although it cannot soley be used as the criteria on whether or not to scrap the car, I was wondering whether it is worth repairing the car even though the book value is that same or less than the repair costs.

If it is just this repair then it may well be worth it, but I am afraid that the car may be reaching that point in its life where various components will now start breaking, requiring regular repairs. (I used to have a Ford that was costing me close on £200 a month as various components broke)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

white smoke pouring out can be a head gasket or turbo. if its one of those its worth fixing. im going through tons of problems on my audi right now and im in the same boat as you. this just gives you room to mod if you want

Hi guys

I have an appointment to take it in to a service station on Saturday for a look and a quote.

I am trying to prepare for the worst case though... should they quote an expensive repair.

Regards
