Can you retro fit the one that goes in the coin holder location on the dash?

sorry guys, my coin holder is in the armrest, so i'm not sure where exactly youre talking about, but the passat cupholders are very sturdy and i drive pretty fast with no problems. I would say any cup holder that goes in your dash is no good, I've seen a few threads with disaster stories about dash cupholders.

I have found stuff on how to install and how great the passat cupholders are. They all say that they can be found for like $35, one even said $28. I haven't been able to find them any way other than the VW dealership ($55) and clairparts.com ($49). Does anyone know of anywhere alse they can be found for cheaper (other than ebay)?

I think clairparts used to sell them for about 30 bucks until they realized that they could charge 50 and people would still buy em, they're very popular. supply and demand's a bitch.

impexfap.com has them for 52.69. Its cheaper than dealer by two dollars and with shipping would be more. Also clairparts.com is prob. more with shipping so i think i just buy it from the local dealer. Thanx for the help!

I installed the passat cupholders today. They work great but the dealership had them for 55 but i got some money off. I just tested them with a bottle water and a can they both worked great. The bottle looked like it was going to fall out on left hand turns but never did. I went on a fast (around 50) curving road and couldn't make them fall out. I even did a hard U-turn and they still didn't fall out. So i am a happy customer especially since the a4 cup holders just suck period.

Thanks everyone for all your help!
