You guys with sound systems.. help please?
Hey guys.. I am going to buy 2 subs and an amp for my stock sound system in my 2004 A4 3.0 - Well my budget is pretty low so i decided to install them myself. I can run the wires pretty easy because ive wired electric wire (strobe lights) in my car. Is there a diagram or somthing to help me hook up a system. I dont know where to hook the subs to, nor the amp. Is it easy to do in the Audi? Is it hard to work with the stock head unit?
Please explain how you guys installed your systems. Thanks a lot!!!!! -Matt-

It's not that hard to do. Do you have the bose system if so I believe there is line outs on the back of the stock deck ( someone chime in on this I'm not positive being I'm not equipped with Bose) If you are running high level imputs off of the rear speakers I tapped into the wires before they got fed into the stock amp, and for a remote you can tap into the switch wire that turns on your stock head unit when the car turns on. By the way where are you located?
New Jersey - I live near Red Bank. I dont think i have the Bose system. My friend has the same car i have with a 1.8 and it says BOSE all over his car. Mine doesn't so im pretty sure i dont got the Bose system.
as much as i know about hooking up a system is that i have to run a wire from my fusebox to the amp. then from the amp to each sub. then a line from my headunit to the subs. The only thing is i would like to see someone elses wireing (for the audi) on how everything is hooked up. I dont want to blow anything up or do somthing stupid like that.
I can understand you dont like systems. My dad hates them also but when i ask him what kind of car he had when he was my age... he had a chevelle 454 bigblock and 25 points on his license. he says he had all kinds of work done to it and he raced everywhere for money. races added up to 5grand somtimes.
okae enough of that.. system help please???

jest informed me that there is not pre amp outputs on the back of youre deck so youre only hope (if you want it to sound good) is to buy a new deck. your amp will have an area for rca cables, this is the right way to hook it up, but audi decks dont have rca cable hookups on the back. some have said that there is a black box that you can hook up for an amp. i say if youre not going to do it right dont do it at all. like 99a4audi said spend ur money on something else. i usedto have quite the stereo in my jeep, over 5,000 in stuff that all got stolen, after that i will never invest in stereo eqipment again, plus i think i am now alittle hard of hearing. plus the bose system is good enough, i think.
If you are putting in an amp, don't run from the fusebox. Do it right and run a 4gauge wire from the battery (fused close to the battery).
There is nothing wrong with having a good stereo.
Just do some reading and make sure you set ip[ up correctly. Unless you don't care about letting your car go up in flames.
You will be much better off replacing the deck. Then run rca from the deck to the amp. Run fused power directly from the battery to the amp. Run a lead wire to the deck, as well as a main power wire to the deck (switched power [x75 post] and main power [12v post] respectively).

thats tough. that stock headunit kicks *** but its difficult to upgrade your soundsystem with it. i would personally just keep your stock stuff. but thats just me.
