Hi folks, 2.0 tfsi engine 2010 with 54k on clock, last long life regime audi service was at 43k, loud tapping/rattling noise from engine, dealer has told us it needs new engine and turbo. Quoted £10k Metal filings found in oil, although they were unable to specify where it had come from unless they stripped the engine down. Audi UK are reluctant to help as it was due next service in jan this year. Despite only having done 11k miles since owning it from July 2013. Anyone have any suggestions?

 

I know the 2.0 engine in the States has a recall due to high oil consumption and the solution is to replace the rings. See link below for a taste on persons experience. The key to getting Audi to do anything is a full service history and no alterations.
