Clutch Failed

Clutch Failed
Hi all, I own a 59 plate A5, delivered near end of Jan 2010.
The clutch failed the other day and the local dealer has got back to me saying its due to suspected abuse of the clutch. WTF, I am no boy racer, I do not 'ride' the clutch etc, so have no idea why.
They have had the gearbox out and say it has not disintergrated but is showing signs of wear through a driving style. I have been driving for 30 years and never burnt a clutch out in all that time, why should I suddenty start now?!?!
The car has completed 11.5 thousand miles, most of them on motorwary or A roads here in the UK.
Any help or anyone know of other instances of this as Audi are trying to swerve away from the problem and make me pay £2,200 for a new clutch to be fitted.
Total joke

I actually got them to admit the failure was THIER fault and it was covered by them. Still not impressed with the way it was initially dealt with at all and I doubt very much I will be purchasing another Audi when I sell this one next year.

Hi here's an update: @ 41700 miles my clutch failed on my 2009 A5 S-Line. Actually the gearbox failed. The 3rd and 4th speeds were lost; I had to drive about 100 miles on 1-2-5-6 speeds. But if I engaged the 6th speed I got a lot of rattling noise, so I didn't use that speed.
Luckily it was under warranty and was recently replaced. I have had many manual transmissions and none failed like this one. I drive the car for mileage, so I don't do many jackrabbit starts or try to race the vehicle. This car has pretty much destroyed my faith in Audi products.

Clutch overheated
Just been told by my local dealer I need a new clutch on an 18 month old 62 plate A5 cabriolet 22500 miles on the clock
After 33 years of driving I've never burnt out a clutch before but apparently I have caused this with my driving style
I do not ride the clutch and 90%+ of my driving is in 6th gear on motorways I feel like I'm being taken for a mug as the local dealer is adamant it's my fault and not covered under warranty
Any suggestions advice before I'm fleeced tomorrow
Oh and at the same time they have at long last found the leak in the water and anti freeze system which I've had to refill three times in 18 months and they couldn't previously detect

Dont back down
Hi Spike,
Do not back down with them, they tried exactly the same with me regarding the clutch. Luckily I have a very good mate who is mechanic and a race mechanic at that. He ripped into them more than I did and they eventually saw sense. There is no way a clutch should be failing on a car of that age unless you have ragged it. Which is what they are trying to insinuate.
Seemss to be an Audi automatic response, blame the customer for our shoddy clutches. Search the web mate, there are loads of reports of duff A5 clutches.
Good luck with it.
