Default Door locks issue

I click unlock on the remote and now it won't unlock the doors but I hear the sound from the passenger side at the trunk like it's working. It had been just the passenger side but now the drivers side does it. I have to use the key to unlock the door. I have to open the passenger side from inside but then the outside handle works till I lock the doors again. I also have 2 of the driving lights LED's out. How hard are those to replace?

I'm guessing no one that posts here knows anything about this.

Hi Kerry G

The lock run on an air system and you have a leak. The sound you hear is the pump and that's a good thing. it means it is working. The challenge is finding the air leak. I have a 2000 S4 with the exact same problem and I am looking to get it fixed as well. From what I have been told smoke needs to be run through the air lines and it will then present the spot that is leaking.

Hi Jayman, are the locks operated by air pressure? That could be a pain to find. Are you having the dealer fix yours?

Would starting with 1 door and then the other a few days later imply anything specific to you?

I don't think I want the dealer to do it. No doubt they will book a lot of hours and charge a lot to do it. I am on the hunt for a shop that can handle the job. Right now I am having a smog issue so I got to get past that first.

Yeah, hate that about dealers. Some don't even have mechanics or troubleshooters. They just have code readers.

Kerry G - I am having a similar issue. How was this resolved for you? I also have an A5 3.2 (with about 54K miles). Thanks.
