We have a 2010 2.0 with 24k miles....oil consumption seems to be getting worse. Using a qt every 2,000 or so. Dealer says it's normal but it's the first turbo car we've owned that can't make it to the normal oil change intervals with adding oil. Annoying to say the least!

I have an 08' 328i loaded and I was thinking about making a move to the A5 (MUCH sexier car) 2.0 but reading the oil consumption issue concerns me.

Oil Consumption
We have a 2010 A4 2.0T. Our oil consumption was not higher during break-in. Our last oil change was at 24011 and the low oil indicator has just come on at 26,800. It seems to take a qt every 2,500 or so.

I don't know of any manufacturers or other industry types who would consider a quart of oil every 2,500 miles to be excessive oil consumption; I certainly don't.

Hi All
I am still running my own tests following the new gasgets etc. However the engine appears to be using approx. 1 Litre of oil per 1400 miles - I will keep you informed of the outcome in due course. If it gets worse i.e.over half a litre per 600 miles I will request a further official test by Audi with a view to splitting the engine and replacing the pistons etc.
regards

Audi A5 oil warning
So who are the idiots that keep saying that german engineering is the best, not the germans by any chance.
second german car for me and this is as rubbish as the first one and the A5 is not cheap, soul less interior and the warning light coming on regularly.
what a joke of a car company,Audi are supposed to be a quality brand but to date have seen no evidence of this at all.
Would of been better off with a fiat and that is saying something as they are not noted for their reliability.

2.0 TFSI Engine Design
Does any one know why the 2.0 TFSI engine consumes oil at a faster rate than the 3.0 liter engine. The oil consumption issue is systemic to 2.0 TFSI and I would appreciate any feedback relative to the consumption caused by the turbo. Thanks.

its the breather system. excessive internal vacuum opens the dump valve and oil pours past the turbo into the intercooler...

a faulty turbo accounts for maybe 10% of the problem

bad piston rings account for another 10%....

80% of the time its the breather..... and their is a fix for it.
