Default MMI Question

Every time I try to check anything on the MMI (oil level, wiper position, etc...) regardless of engine running or not, the audio comes on (usually radio or sometimes iPod if connected) even when I don't touch that control. How do I check the MMI status without having to mute the audio?

is there nothing in sound settings about initial or start up volume? should be able to set that at lowest so that you will always have to turn up radio first before hearing it.

i'll check this for you tomorrow.

huh, I don't think you can. Ask your service tech next time if he can do it through obd2.

Thanks - still haven't found a good answer. Anyone know how to do this?

I apologize to A5Pete and don't ,ean to hijack your thread but, while listmates are pondering your question, I wonder if the MMI system can be programmed for remote start capability. I don't have "smart" key.

Thanks.

Hey, I don't mind. I might just learn something else.

It's just annoying to me that when doing maintenance on the car (or even washing the car and putting the wipers in maint posn) like changing the oil and you have to use the MMI the dang audio (radio/iPod, etc.) has to come on.
