02 A6 2.7T S Line questions
Could some one please tell me the difference between an 02 A6 2.7T vs an 02 A6 2.7T S Line. Or point me in the direction of a website that discus's the difference. Also please give your opinion on this A6. I am thinking of buying an 02 A6 2.7T S line it has hybrid Turbos on it. Does that make sense?

RE: 02 A6 2.7T S Line questions
There is no such thing as a 2002 2.7T S-line. Audi only offered the S-linein 2004. It came with an additional 15 HP (265 up from 250) with a simple ECU code. No "hybrid" turbos. It also came with different wheels (17" or 18" 9-spoke wheels),RS6 spoiler on the trunk, and S-line badging. That is the only difference. All 2.7Ts from 2003 and later had the sport suspension, and the interior is identical to the regular A6 2.7T, with the sport seats as an option.
Anyone selling a 2002 A6 2.7T S-line is selling something that is NOT a true OEM S-line.
Hope this helps!

RE: 02 A6 2.7T S Line questions
The following is a description of the car.
"Do you crave insane high-speed cars that can pull well past most legal speed limits while putting you back in the seats? Well if you are then take a look at this Audi. What started off as a fast 6 speed S Line has now been massaged into a highway terror by way of Baily Motorsports manifolds feeding twin aftermarket hybrid turbo’s. The power is so linear and smooth it feels like a rocket ship as it propels you down the highway with a clean throaty exhaust note thanks to its twin-tipped aftermarket exhaust".
I will have to ask them about the S Line description, because it is still a nice car

RE: 02 A6 2.7T S Line questions
I wouldn't touch something with aftermarket manifolds and turbos unless I knew the history. Under most circumstances the only people investing in aftermarket turbos are either doing so because the stockers died (and they upgrade to the RS6 turbos) or they are trying to upgrade everythingto make the car as fast as possible - which means they probably drove it hard and weren't afraid of abusing anything. In either case you really need to be careful and know what you are getting into.
Anyone who starts off by misrepresenting their car as a S Line when it is not is already showing you they are capable of fraud. Don't walk away.....run.

Sounds like a home-brew Stage 3 car...might be interesting, but another note...S-line (which we already discussed was available in 2004 only) was ONLY offered in tiptronic, not manual.
Of course, the 2.7T engine is a desired engine for those that want to increase performance beyond the factory specs. It has the potential...with an ECU chip, exhaust, upgraded turbos and intercoolers, it is a potent street fighter!
If this car interests you, I would highly suggest that you find a knowledgeable independent mechanic or local tuning shop that can look over this car for you. At least one worry about chipping is eliminated since this is a 6-speed. No tranny to die on you, the auto (tiptronic) tranny isa weak link in a chipped 2.7T, so 6-speed is preferred.
However, most of those that pursue this type of performance upgrade start with a "virgin" car, so they can pick and choose their upgrades, with known components from known aftermarket companies.
Best of luck!!!
