05 A6 trans
the trans. in my '05 a6 has a hesitation when starting from a stop. It feels as if it takes just a second or two to hook up. When in manual mode the down shifts and upshifts are anything but fast. My thought are: Service trans, and make sure I have the lastest firmware for trans. the care has 55,000 miles. Any thought? Thanks in advance, Paul

My wife's 2005 A6 seems to exhibit the same things.
I hadn't thought of a computer issue - I was just thinking the fluid was low.
Have you checked the fluid level? I would check it on my wife's car, but I don't know where to check it at. All my previous cars had dipsticks to check transmission levels. I'm suspecting the car has to be lifted up and checked directly at the transmission, but Audi's wonderful manuals don't tell you anything about this.
Anybody know where to check for the transmission fluid level?

Mine experiences similar issues. I had the car serviced recently so the fluids are ok, thinking that may not be the issue. Never thought of software either. I'm beginning to think the new body A6 cut some of the performance for that fresh interior, maybe?
I'm looking into a cold air intake to pump it up a little but not sure if that would help it off the line. Do you experience any difference in Sport mode?

I am the original owner of a 2005 4.2. The transmission hesitation went away after the dealer updated the transmission software and replaced the differential and transmission fluid, all under TSBs. The hesitation has never returned.

Kevin,
Do you happen to have the TSB for the hesitation issue and what was recommended for that service?
I have a great service advisor (scuba friend), so I could probably get it handled even though we don't have it under warranty any more.
