08 A6 always blowing cold air from center dash
I have a 2008 Audi A6, Its not under warranty anymore so I really hope someone can help me on this one
During the winter when everyone turns the heater on, my wife has to close the center vents in the dash because it blows cold air. Its not warm but cold, and I know these cars have a regulated center vent through the navigation screen where you can set the center vent to colder or warmer with the navigation dial wheel from the setup menu. Now whether i put colder or warmer, it doesnt make a difference. We always since having the car thought its supposed to be like that and during the winter just closed the 2 vents but now im starting to think its not right.
Also, the strangest thing is when we are driving, (or maybe it dont matter driving or not) and its quiet in the car with no music, we can hear vents or something opening or closing inside the dashboard. The heater and A/C could even be off and itll still do that. The sound thats coming from there sounds as if a person changes the air flow blowing from the glass to the floor or from the floor to whichever vent, its that part that closes one direction of air flow in the dash to the other that a person selects. I hope someone knows what im talking about. Please if someone can help who had an issue like this or know of what is going on, Id greatly appreciate it.

To start what SW version does your car have? 10.0.1, 11.9.0? here a link for a newer version: 2007 S6 MMI 2G Update CDs (US).
My understanding is that the center vents is a blower that receives the air from other vents. By the sound of it the center vent valve struck open(between the windshield and hood there are intake vents for the cabin air, & yes there's a cabin filter). Also I'm not sure, but there are valves in HVAC for hot, cold.
