Default 1996 A6 Quattro -check engine light

Hi, I'm new to Audi's and hope someone can help me out. I took my car in to my local mechanic to have the gaskets and O-ring replaced due to it leaking oil. When I picked up the car the check engine light is on. They were already closed when I got it and a mechanic was still there that took a look under the hood. He saw a wire loose and plug it in and when he did the whole car started to shake and act like it was going to die. He thinks the wire is related to the turbo boost and was off for a while. Has anyone else had problems like this? I'm scheduled to take it back this Friday to have it look at some more but was wondering about it.

I'm not sure if 96 is a OBDII computer, if it is, they can read fault codes and find out what exactly the car does not like. If the car works better with wire unplugged, unplug it untill you scan the codes.

And DO NOT drive if the light is flashing!
