Default 1998 A6 Intermittant Oil Warning, ABS, Flashing brake light.

My 1998 A6 is having an intermittant problem. My Tach drops out, the oil warning light comes on as well as the ABS light, and a flashing brake light. This is followed by a series of beeps. This problem happens randomly, and returns to normal after a couple of minutes followed by the Traction control light coming on then off. I also feel a slight vibration in the brake pedal when this happens. I think that the display is going bad, because everything checks out. Any thoughts? I can't make any sense of this.

Replace your abs control module.

Thanks for the input. I don't understand why the ABS module could be the cause though.
I don't want to start replacing parts when I am not really sure that's the problem.
Why is the Low Oil warning display light up and why does my A/C Compressor shut down when this happens?

These systems have nothing to do with the ABS Module.

The abs contorl module ties into the databus system where info is transfered from one module to another. For whatever reason when the abs drops out it screws with the signals coming from the ecm. The tach and oil light. The abs failure also causes the abs and brake lights to flash. The traction contorl light comes on becasue the steering angle sensor needs to readapt itself when the abs control module loses power. The ac compressor shuts down because it thinks the engine is running to hot. Its a safty feature built into the ac.

Thanks Darkhound for the explanation.

I love how people in the forums answer questions with nothing to back it up!

Are you a mechanic? Because it seems that you know what you are talking about.
