Ok here's the deal now, and I would live your input on this..

I cannot seem to locate that exact number TCM. My Original TCM is from a 3/99 build date Audi 2.8 A6Q Part number is 4B0 927 156 CE.

The Audi dealer and others around here tell me that the TCM i need is for a 2000/2001 model tith the EKX transmission.
(apparantly my car must have had an early 2000 TCM or something but a 1999 TCM is out of the question)

I found a TCM today. A guy will sell it to me and it's out of a 2000 Audi A6Q. This part number is 4B0 927 156 AJ. I did some research and found out that yes this TCM operates the 5 speed auto backed to a 2.8 v6 just like mine..

The audi dealer tells me that any 2000/2001 TCM that operates a 2.8 quattro automatic will work, so should I just bear it and buy it and cross my fingers? Or has someone been through this before and knows that it's not going to work..

Many thanks!
Shawn

Once again, I would try drying out the TCM over a heater vent overnight before replacing with another one. Many times, if the moisture is totally gone, it will work fine.

I have already tried that.. The circuit board in my unit was so saturated that the semicunductors on the pcb are rusted and literaly falling off the board!! This one's shot...
