Default 2.7's Post Here

I just wanted to collect a general conscientious of your motors “normal” operating temperature. By normal I mean the point as to when your oil temp needle stops climbing during normal driving.

I know that a lot of factors contribute to oil temp differences but for the sake of this comparison could you please state the ambient temperature as well. If you could also post at what temp you are most comfortable with when turning off your car. Not only that but what steps are taken to reach normal oil temp.

One more thing (for the techs): I read that the ECU requests maximum boost from the K03 turbo @ 3000rpm. Is this true for our motors or just the single K03 setups (1.8T, 2.0T), if not then at what rpm do our setup start to produce considerable boost? Sorry for all the questions and long post but I think this will log some valuable data that new Turbo owners (myself included) can use to adjust their driving habits to better help lengthen the K03’s life.

I will go first:
Normal Operating Temp: 200°F

Ambient Temp: 56°F - 65°F

Temp during Spirited Driving: 215°F - 226°F

Won’t shut off until Temp is: 210°F or less

Steps taken to ensure proper warm-up: Try to keep the rpm’s under 3K when in AUTO, try to keep it under 2K when in TIP

Thanks for your input [sm=feedback.gif][sm=smiley20.gif]
