2.7T/2.8 Exhaust Question
Does anyone know if the exhaust system on a 2.7T car is the same as the exhaust system on a 2.8 car? I just bought a 1998 A6 Quattro with a 2.8 and the exhaust system is in pretty rough shape, but I got a complete system from a 2001 2.7T car that I would like to replace it with. I haven't turned up anything that says they're different, but it seems like they should be, and it would be good to know for sure before I swap it out. I'd appreciate any information anyone has on this. Thanks!

I appreciate the response. My question was out of curiosity more than anything else. The new engine is in and it would be running by now if I hadn't noticed that the output shaft seal was leaking at the back of the transmission. No one in town had the seal, so I had to order one and it won't be here until Saturday, but then I'll be able to fire it up and see how it sounds.
I would think that the turbo cars would have a lower-restriction exhaust system, but I'll be able to compare them side by side to see if the part numbers are different as soon as I drop the old system.
The previous owner cut out the cats and welded in straight pipes, so that will makes things interesting too. I'd be curious to know how aftermarket mufflers would sound, but with a little 2.8 engine, it might not make any difference, and it would be hard to justify the expense for an $800 car.
