Default 2 pad ate caliper vs 4 pad lucas caliper

I have a 2001 2.7t 6 speed audi a6. I have the 4 pad lucas caliper but also have a 2 pad ate caliper off of a 2003 2.7 6 speed. Should i keep my 4 pad lucas caliper or change it to the 2 pad ate caliper. Which one is better and why? Thanks

Keep the four pad calipers as they are four piston calipers and will brake somewhat better than the two pad, single picton calipers. However, if you need to rebuild a caliper, then that's the time to change over.

How can you tell if you have 2 pads or 4 pads?
