Brake caliper type - TEVES/ATE or LUCAS
So I have a 1999 A4 Quattro, and need to do a brake job.
1st question: My Chilton sez there are two types of calipers, so I don't want to screw up and get the wrong pad type. Will both types of calipers receive the same pads? I've seen some pads with sensors, some without, some for use with ATE calipers, some "for models with chassis serial number through 8D-X-199999"?
How can guy tell which caliper he has, and where do I located the chassis serial?
2nd question: anything I should know about changing the brakes people typically forget, or has to do with the electronics? Anything screwy? I'm familiar with Volvo maintenance, but new to Audi care.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
