Default 2000 2.7t oil in plenum question

Hi I have a 2000 2.7t with 160000 (timing belt service at 100k) that we experienced the cold weather blue smoke phenomenon that other owners have had. I went ahead and pulled the air inlet tubes coming from the intercoolers and noticed more oil than what i can assume is normal. The air filter has some oil on it as well as the air distributer. Not sure if it was a frozen valve causing a back pressure issue. The low oil light has come on a few times and there is ample oil on the front of the engine as it looks like oil might be blowing out of one of the intercooler fittings as you can see sort of in the pictures. The car runs fine other that that.
Here is the plenum

Here is one of the intercooler outlets

Has anybody seen that much oil in those places before? If I have to replace turbos than I might just limp it to a dealer and trade it, or pull it replace them and do a tb replacement.

That is pretty much what mine looks like. I have heard/read that it is a pretty good sign that the crank case breather tube is clogged up causing overpressure. I've been working on some other issues so I haven't had a chance to mess with mine. I did replace my oil cap with one that has a pressure relief, that seems to have helped a little.

keep an update going if you get it sorted

This...In January alone, we've done at least 3 "spider hose" replacements on 2.7t's with remarkably similar symptoms/conditions.

Looks like normal oil for a turbo (and I own a couple). How much came out of the intercoolers?

I would try the spider pipe replacement first.

Good luck,

Bob

The spider pipe runs around the engine. It's not too difficult to replace. I pulled mine off and checked for build up inside the plastic pipes/hose. I purchased one at ECS tuning and installed it in a couple of beers.
