im currently finishing paperwork to get a '00 a6 and figured i'd look for some guidance on here. the car itself runs and feels fine, inspection wise is beautiful mechanically, only issue being check engine light which i scanned showing manufacturers secondary emissions code. anything else i need to be concerned about at 97,000 miles on this car aside from the standard fare? carfax is showing regular maintenance at dealer starting at the original dealer up until the guy im getting it from who has put somewhere around 13,000 on it.

 

Secondary emissions could be the catalytic converters. Find out if the warranty is 80 or 100k (my A4 was 80k, and it is getting new cats at 79.8k). New cats are in the $3k range, but of course you can run on defective cats unless you live in a state that does emissions checks.
