Default 2000 A6 4.2 doesn't start

First off I am glad to become a member of such a great forum. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea's why my A6 won't start after I drive it around for a while once the engine gets hot? It cranks but it just won't fire, if I let the engine cool down for a couple of hours It starts with no problem and drives around fine until I turn off the ignition and try to start to start it when it is still warm. I hope you guy's on here might have some idea's because I am confused. Thanks!

My 2.8 did the same thing, turns out it was the colant temp sensor.
I also have a 2000 4.2 and the sensor is in back of the engine. You could probably search and get more partuculars.

Thanks for the replies! Hopefully that is the problem and it's not hard to fix because where I live I'm very limited on anyone who knows anything about Audi's besides a VW dealership. I forgot to mention it all started when I changed the plugs and now the rear driver side window also goes down when I start the car and it won't let me put it up until the ignition is off.

As for the window rolling down on its own, I had the same problem. Turns out that I some how had water seep into the switch itself. Took the switch out and there was water dripping from it. (Who knows, could have been the boy ) Anyways, I pulled the switch out, let it dry out over night over a heater vent, and it worked fine ever since.

One way to check is that switch on the rear window lockout from the master switch. If it stops the window from rolling down, then it is most likely problem related to the rear window switch.
