Default 2001 A6 2.7T Maintenance

Just wondering if it seems high ($586) to have the coolant pump replaced. I had a crack in the bottle and that was replaced but was told the pump is underneath everything and the bulk of the cost is labor. That quote is from the dealer. I'm waiting on a quote from another technician but want to make sure they know Audi's. Any recommendations? I'm in MI - Howell area but travel both east (Novi) and west (Lansing).

Also - have a line straight down within the dash monitor that disrupts one letter or number. Obviously a computer thing - costly?

I have 130,500 miles on Alice. She's getting up there.

Thanks all.

Hey noid

I am in Mi as well. The 586 is that for the water pump or the after run pump?

have you done the 60k service that is a big thing on the 2.7's

Vast performance is local to you I would check them out. I am a huge fan of them as they helped me build my car. They are deep into the 2.7's I know they have the only 800WHP 2.7 s4 in the USA

check them out

Let me know how you make out. I'm in Holland MI and regularly travel to Detroit and Midland with a 2003 A6 2.7T MT6. It has 80K miles; 42K of them in the 18 months that I've owned it. Last month I had a GIAC chip and Bailey diverters installed. I'm "saving up" for the 100K timing belt change and am interested in how it goes for you. I have a local speed shop here that also specializes in Audis and he did my chip work.

The 500+ dollars for the coolant pump/water sounds good with labor. The cam/timing belt, and serpintine belt must be removed I believe because the pump is belt drivin. and that requires the front of your car to be takin apart. but im not a mechanic, I just work in an Audi/Porsche shop, and in my expirence the pump has been belt drivin. I think its only more expensive in a TT because the engine is mounted sideways. look at prices of the pumps i doubt there too bad and you may be able to do it yourself. but its a big one.

Default That's a fair price for the aux coolant pump

and a great price for the water pump. The water pump requires all the timing belt labor to get to it.

Timing Belt / Water pump

The aux coolant pump is <$200 parts and 3-4 hours labor.

Aux coolant pump replacement

As for the instrument panel, that's a common problem on these cars. You may be able to have yours rebuilt.
