Default 2001 A6 2.7T Start issues

I need some help fellas, My wife has been driving her 2001 A6 2.7T with 106,000 miles on it. She was having trouble starting it while cold so I checked the battery and replaced it. This morning it would not start, it would turn-over and catch for about 2 seconds then quit. after about 5 minutes of this it finally idled and until it warmed up a little when ever I would hit the gas it would sputter. I turned it off after it warmed up a little and re-started like a champ no problems. I have no ideas as to what it could be at this point does anyone have any suggestions.

-all help is appreciated in advanced

Ice in the fuel line?

Bad connection to a coil pack?

Does it do this every time or just that one time?

It could just be so many things. Try pulling the codes.

add some dry gas. run it for a while and see. Could be a $2 fix. Good Luck!

It only does this on the first start of the day, after its been started it starts right up. Its not ice in the lines because its not that cold and its garaged, but could it be the coil packs or ICM...I dont have the VAG COM so Im SOL on the codes until atleast Tuesday.

ok so I went to the Autozone and had the generic OBDII reader check the code and it came out as P0177....what would that be?

You really need to get it hooked up to a vagcom so that we can get the full story. But the basic gist of a P0177 is that you are having an issue with the fuel air mixture, usually on the fuel side. Could be bad injectors, bad fuel pump, MAF, vacuum leaks, problem with the fuel lines...and on and on. You get the idea.
