2001 A6 2.7T Wheel Fitment Question
Hello, AudiForums!
This is JediJoker. I am a recent Audi owner and new to the forums here. I bought my dad's 2001 A6 2.7T and am now in the process of making it mine. One of the things I want to do is get some bigger wheels, but keep the OEM look. The current wheels (hardly pictured below) are the standard 16" x 7", +45 mm offset 5-spokes. I want 17"s, but I need to figure out what width/offset combination will work.
Using an online offset calculator, I determined that, given my current wheel dimensions, 17" x 7.5" with +35 mm offset earns me an extra 4 mm on the inside and adds 16 mm on the outside. 17" x 7.5" with +45 mm offset takes away 6 mm on the inside and adds 6 mm on the outside. 17" x 8" with +35 mm offset takes away 3 mm on the inside and adds 23 mm on the outside. I'm not terribly worried about rubbing on the fenders, but I am worried about rubbing and fitment on the inside, where there isn't even enough tolerance for cable-style snow chains. I refuse to use wheel spacers.
So, to sum it all up: are there any known fitment problems for these wheel dimensions on 2001 A6 2.7Ts? Will they fit without wheel spacers?

Noob..
Stfa. I think that's what the group silent treatment is trying to tell you You were right to be suspicious, I shagged her rottin! Opps, I mean, yes, you MAY have trouble using any wheel that has less space on the inside than the stockers, the 2.7T has very large brake calipers that can cause a problem with after market wheels. Sorry I can't be more specific, but if you get a set of 17" bbs wheels that were an option on the A6, they will fit for sure.

Yeah, I'm lazy with archive surfing. But anyway, with what I learned from AudiWorld and QuattroWorld, I now know what I need to know: HP2 calipers are a bitch when it comes to wheel fitment. And, coincidentally, I am seriously considering the Audi OEM BBS RC 17"s, which were an option on the 2.7T.
One more question: does anyone have experience with Vöxx? I like their MG3 (which fits), but I'm having trouble finding any information on their manufacturing processes/standards (not on their website). Are they well-cast (low pressure)? If they're gravity-cast, I will look for something else.
Unfortunately, I now have more serious problems to deal with than lug-candy, because the clutch is giving up the ghost.
