I have no idea on the cost of repair.

I just wanted to say Sorry, it must suck to need a new trans.

I was quoted $4500 by a reputable shop that does these on a daily basis. Now is the opportunity to do some trans mods (they are cheap, the labor is the biggie). Higher stall on the converter!

Shop this one around and find the right shop. You can find horror stories about selecting the wrong trans shop. Ask other audi guys in your area where they went. It may save you some headaches!

Ya find a reputable shop, i didn't have a tranny rebuild but i had my timing belt replaced but they fucked something up to where the bolt on the belt broke and my belt broke ******* up the engine, that was a 3 week fix and luckily they covered the cost but it was a bitch, its worth it spend the extra couple hundo on a good shop that knows what they are doing.

A very short time ago there was one who did the transmission repair himself: https://www.audiforums.com/forum/sho...g+transmission

at a pretty reputable indy shop, i was quoted around 1300 to remove and install the same tranny. make sure you get a rebuilt one with a warranty though...

check on car-part.com, buy one with an extended warranty, replace the convertor and drive the wheels off of it. if you know the interchange look on ebay too but get everything in writing.
