2001 A6 vs. F150
I made my plate myself. If they total it I am going to get an A4, my wife would like something smaller and I would like a bit more sporty, not as heavy, better on gas type Audi. I am hoping I will have both cars in my possession because the tires are about 4 months old and if there are any pieces of the A4 not in pristine condition I may be able to grab a part off the A6 (like the stereo, cup holders, dimmer switch, hid's, climate control). If they don't total it I will get some parts from the bone yard and I will check out the site you stated.
Fwiw the a4 only weights like 300 less than an a6. So the a4 2.8 gets only slightly better mileage. The 1.8 is the way to go, but there are sludge issues so do research into that up front. Our e36 2.5l manual got average 31hwy and our e46 2.5 gets 33hwy. I don't see a huge need for awd. I love my a6 quattro, but our e46 with snows, other than accelerating, handles just as well as my a6 in bad weather. They both have the exact same snow tires, bought on the same day. My point being don't get hung up on having to have an awd car. Rwd with good tires is just as good. But whatever you do, don't buy a fwd Audi.
Do you owe money on the a6?

Nope, she's mine so whatever I get will go toward the next car. The main reason I am looking for awd is so it will perform well when I need to get up a snow covered road. There are many hills where I live and people who don't know how to traverse them (ie: stopping in the middle and getting stuck on the side). I have been reading up on the sludge thing, seems to come from people not using synthetic oil and not changing the oil when it needs to be due to being worn out from the turbo. Then it will caulk up the oil channels and kill the turbo. At least I believe this is the problem...I'll need to do some more reading on this subject.

When our 3 series got rear ended a few years back, the car was worth maybe 3-4k, it was a 93 with probably 220k miles on it at the time. The woman who hit us, her insurance wrote us a check for $4300.00 even though it was more than the value of the car, and did not total the car. Had the accident been our fault, our insurance would have written us a check for probably $3000.00 and totaled the car.
It is different depending on who's fault it is. Generally if the other party is liable then they have to pay what the repair or replacement cost is whatever is cheaper or give you a choice. They're not allowed to account for how much they will be able to sell your totalled car in the estimates as they're goal is to make you whole again. When it's your fault your insurance company is trying to help you and pay as minimum as possible as it usually leads to increasing your rates to cover the costs.
Please keep us updated on what's going on. I'd like to see how much it'll cost to repair

Well they didn't total her out (quoted me about $5000 in damages) so I am on the lookout for the wares to rebuild her; make her stronger, faster, and beautiful again. Anybody know any places near or in ct with the goods?
Just my thoughts.
Ditto^^
I have found an entire front clip and will be assessing the quality tomorrow. I will not be painting due to the lack of facilities (otherwise I would lay the paint myself). I have experience with this sort of thing so hopefully at least it will look good for all of our mothers
I have been wondering if post face lift headlights will fit, going to try to find that one out tonight. Thanks for all the insight, re-build pics coming soon!
