2001 audi a6 STICKY gears. (delayed downshifts)
under hard braking the transmission struggles to get to 1st gear quickly. after the car has completely stopped under hard braking, it shifts to 1st from second gear one second or two after it reaches a complete stop.
i believe the tranny is getting sticky. the tranny oil was replaced at 70k miles for the first time. and the car now has almost 87k miles.
a friend told me because my ABS light is on, this issue is happening.
i was wondering if this is a tranny problem or the tcm module?
the tranny is NOT in safe mode. it shifts great. tiptronic works except 1 and 2nd is a little jerky thats all.
if anyone has any ideas please comment. thanks and good day!

Im not sure. i havent really noticed it until a few months back. i always thought it was because of the ABS light i have. But it only happens on the 2.8l. i drove my dads 2002 2.7t and his always goes to 1st at around 5 MPH no matter how hard i brake. i think it might be because in 2002 the tranny was redesigned with the new SPORT mode.

This late downshifting is not normal, get it to someone who can put guages and the VAG Com on it to see why, sounds like a speed sensor or sticky valve body. When the oil was changed, was it the correct stuff?

I tried to check it out because I have a check engine light on but the ecu is not communicating with the devices. I got the oil changed at 74k miles it now has 87k
