2003 A4 cvt
I currently have an A6 w/lots of miles on it & also lots of problems, so I'm thinking of getting another car with lower mileage to avoid some of the problems.
I found a 2003 A4 convertible w/36,000 miles on it. It's a V6 3.0 and FWD going for $15,000. I can probably lower that a little.
I have two questions. First, is this price too good to be true, especially w/the car having only 36,000 miles on it?
Second, is convertible bad in cold weather (winter)? I live in Indiana, and it gets quite cold and lots of snow. I heard convertible cloth gets torn, it forms rust, and gets stuck. Is this true, or are Audi people smarter than that.
Please help, thnx

The Audi soft tops are well insulated, as are the Sab and Volvo, so living in a cold climate wouldn't be an issue. The question is: will you ever drive the car with the top down? If not, then just pass on the car.
Also since you mention cold and snow, wouldn't you be better off with an AWD instead of a FWD?
Otherwise the price seems like a good deal in this economy. By the same token, will you be able to sell your car?
I have been trying to sell a low mileage (27k miles) 05 A4 CVT AWD since August and it didn't move...

While the FWD is fine, even in heavy rain (I have plenty of experience with that on my 2 previous A4s) it doesn't come close to the handling offered by the AWD, so driving in the snow would benefit from having AWD instead of just FWD. JM2CW...
